Brighton first-gamer Jake Hartigan helped ensure the Bombers' return to A1 was a successful one on Saturday with a century on debut.
Bowling first at Port District, the Brighton A-grade dismissed the home side in the first over after tea for 158, leaving the Bombers to face 35 before stumps.
Hartigan and fellow opener Joe Hack wasted no time setting out after the moderate total, putting on 132 for the first wicket before Hack was dismissed for 71.
Joined at the crease by Matt Walmsley-Pace, Hartigan continued to pummel the bowling as Brighton passed the target with several overs to spare.
Hartigan amassed 13 fours and 2 sixes before finishing the day on 101 not out. Walmsley-Pace was 31 not out as the total climbed to 1/206.
A Barossa Valley product, Hartigan has played the bulk of his cricket at Northern Jets. He moved to the Brighton area with his young family this year and is looking forward to a big season with the Bombers.
Well played Jake.
