A strong recovery from a precarious overnight position led to a dominant win for Brighton's under-17s on Sunday, cementing a place in the top four in the process.
In their two-day match against Gaza at Brighton Oval #1, Gaza batted first and were dismissed for 120 on January 8.
Max Mathews was the pick of the bowlers with 4/16 from 11 overs while Michael Jansson chipped in with two wickets.
Brighton's top order crumbled late on the opening day as the home side went to stumps at 5/50.
But Max Mathews (41) again came to the rescue, combining with Ansh Chaturvedi (18), Charlie Fleetwood (13) and Noah Fouyaxis (11) as Brighton passed the target seven wickets down before being dismissed for 153.
Gaza went in to bat again and were bundled out for 76, losing their 10th wicket in the final over of the day.
Another leg-spinner, Charlie Fleetwood this time, did the most damage with the ball, taking 4/17 from 12 overs while Max Mathews took 2/18.
Ansh Chaturvedi was brilliant in the field, taking a catch and contributing to two of three run outs for the innings.
The win puts the under-17 side in fourth spot on the ladder ahead of its crucial clash with top side Marion this weekend.
Good luck boys!
